Day 3: Foundations – Scripture & Prayer

Scripture:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)

Relational discipleship is rooted in something deeper than good intentions—it’s grounded in the unchanging truth of God’s Word and the power of consistent, Spirit-led prayer.

When we walk with people through life, we’re not just offering advice. We’re pointing them to the truth of Scripture. The Bible isn’t just a book we study—it’s a story we live in. It reveals who God is, who we are, and what it looks like to live with hope, purpose, and holiness.

But to help others engage with the Bible, we have to be people shaped by it ourselves. That means reading it with curiosity, meditating on it with humility, and applying it with grace.

The same goes for prayer. Prayer is not just a discipline; it’s a lifeline. It’s how we stay connected to the source of all wisdom and power. It’s also how we care for the people we disciple. One of the most loving things we can do is pray for them regularly and pray with them often.

Discipleship built on Scripture and prayer doesn’t feel forced—it feels alive. It’s not about sounding religious, but about being real before God. It’s about asking questions, wrestling with doubts, and trusting God to shape hearts over time.

And let’s be honest: we won’t always know what to say or how to respond. That’s okay. We’re not the Savior—Jesus is. Our job is to faithfully bring others into His Word and into His presence.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Are you consistently making space for God to speak through His Word and Spirit in your life?

  2. How can you lead others into Scripture and prayer in a natural, relational way?

  3. What rhythms can you build into your week to stay grounded in God’s truth and love?
